I am?

Do you ever feel that as women we are so many things to so many people? The last 10 days I housed an exchange student from Japan, this wasn’t the first time, but it has been a while since I had a student stay with me and with so many work and family commitments, it was just too hectic but the student needed a host family so I decided to just do it and figure things out later (I’m sure many women are guilty of this, am I right? 😉

I won’t lie, it has been an exhausting 10 days as I had to be a mother to my 4 children and a host mother to my 16 year old exchange student but it gave me a chance to reflect and understand how important mothers are in keeping the family together.

I think about the mother that gives up a meal in order for her children to eat, the mother that sits uncomfortably at the doctors holding her sick sleeping child, the mother that sacrifices her dreams so that her children can fulfill theirs or the mother that has no children of her own, yet is a mother to many who need one.

I saw my mother sacrifice her time to stay up last night helping me to get urgent orders packed and ready to be sent off today. I couldn’t have done it alone, she is incredible!

Mothers; all women are amazing! With the hustle and bustle of our daily routine sometimes we can lose who we truly are, so I just want to remind you that you are more than just someone’s daughter, sister, wife and mother.

Take time out to celebrate you and remember the words “I am” because those 2 words are the most powerful words; for what you put after them shapes your future, your dreams, your reality and your identity.
